European Power Analyst
European Power Analyst - The Role:
- Continuing the development of economic models for North West European power markets used to assist traders in making market based decisions
- Understanding optimization of cross border flows and price coupling in Germany, France, and Benelux power markets
- Maintaining robust fundamental outlook for NWE power markets including plant forecast, availability, marginal costs, renewable development.
Key accountabilities will include:
- To develop and update key economic trading models for the North West European power markets and ensure key market information is available
- To focus trader attention on relevant analysis (e.g. technical, fundamental changes, regulatory impact, macro-economic etc)
- To apply understanding of trading, asset behaviour, market constraints in order to make trade strategy recommendations
- To develop supporting modelling tools to monitor relevant market trends (correlation, volatility etc)
- To apply judgement to interpret and distil relevant information to trading desk to allow the traders to quickly react
- To act as market liaison point between Trading, Origination and Centrica Energy Fundamentals.
- Acknowledged expertise within trading environment on NW European Power markets
- Effective market analysis tool kit to enable competitive trading
- Insightful analysis of market with trade strategy recommendations made throughout the year
- Proactive information sharing and analysis with result that insights are seen as factor towards trading success.
European Power Analyst - The Person:
- Very strong technical skills in Excel/VBA
- Ability to manage large amounts of data
- Experience of database development
- ‘Python’ experience preferable
- Very strong quantitative skills
- Financial engineering background preferable
- Demonstrable experience in energy markets
