Job Description
The research consultant will gather, analyze, and disseminate information regarding all aspects of Ex-U.S. private equity and venture capital, including markets, strategies, and managers. The research consultant is part of a highly collaborative cross-office team responsible for producing research on the Ex-U.S. private equity market, strategies, and managers. Part of the role is identifying and vetting high-quality investment strategies, firms, and funds, monitoring firms that are investing for our clients, and serving as a firm resource.
Job Responsibilities
- Along with the team, serve as a primary point of contact and interaction for private equity investment managers. Coordinate and attend meetings, and produce written assessments and facilitate flow of manager information internally.
- Actively monitor and evaluate managers on an ongoing basis, attend annual meetings. Produce written assessments as part of ongoing monitoring and evaluation for firm use.
- Conduct manager due diligence, which includes in-person meetings, organization and strategy evaluation, performance analysis and evaluation, reference calls, and business terms review. Produce written due diligence reports summarizing findings for firm use.
- Track and analyze industry trends and information. Produce written industry assessments for firm use.
- Participate on a firm-wide Research Committee to discuss evaluations of markets, strategies, and managers and determine research plans and priorities.
- Collaborate with broader Cambridge Associates research organization and consulting staff.
- Participate in marketing presentations when appropriate.
Qualifications
- MBA or CFA strongly preferred
- Minimum two to four years' related investment experience and familiarity with private investments preferred
- Additional business level language skills preferred, especially Portuguese, French, Spanish or Mandarin
- Demonstrated analytical skills and strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and under time constraints
- Ability to assign priorities to multiple requests for information, while ensuring integrity, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK
