Circa £80,000 (dependant on experience) with the potential for up to 100% bonus in the first year

Our client is a leading and highly-regarded Systematic Hedge Fund, with a particular presence across the European markets however with a global reputation. Due to recent investment and success within the Equities High Frequency Trading space, they are currently looking to add an exceptional C++ Software Developer to the High Frequency Trading team in London. This is a perfect opportunity for an expert C++ coder to join a highly successful and established Hedge Fund, that makes investment in Research and the design of the most innovative technologies its top priority to stay ahead of competitors within the Equities trading space. The successful C++ Developer will have the rare opportunity to work on a young, dynamic project, and will play a key role in the design and development of a next generation Low Latency, High Frequency Trading platform. The C++ developer would become part of a small, dynamic team, where there is no divide between the business and technology. Thus they would be expected to participate in all aspects of building High Frequency Trading strategies, from the design of the core platform architecture to support the entire High Frequency Trading life-cycle, to the implementation of High Frequency Trading strategies and statistical analysis of trade executions. Although the primary technology used by the business is C++, the client also frequently employs cutting edge tools and functional programming languages, such as Java, C#, F#, oCaml, Python, Haskell etc.   

The successful C++ Developer/ Strategist will ideally have the following skill-set:

• Exceptional academic track record (Masters or PhD preferred) in Computer Science/ Engineering/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Machine Learning/ Artificial Intelligence from a leading institution

• Solid C++ coding ability, preferably in a Linux/ Unix environment

• Experience developing high-performance, low latency, real-time trading systems would be beneficial but isn’t essential. The client is also happy to accept applications with little or no financial experience.

• Solid communication skills as this is a highly business-critical role in a small, tight-knit team

• Experience of Linux kernel tuning/ FPGA acceleration would be particularly attractive

While the responsibilities of the successful C++ Developer/ Strategist will be incredibly varied, they will include:

• Design and develop the core platform architecture to support the whole of the High Frequency Trading life-cycle, spanning the market data service, strategy development, back-testing, strategy execution and strategy performance analysis

• Participate in all aspects of building quantitative High Frequency Trading strategies, including the design, implementation and testing

• Develop low latency algorithms for Direct Market Access

• Implement a proprietary feed handler, smart order routing and OMS

• Explore trading ideas, implement trading strategies and perform statistical analysis of trade executions  

• Conduct research into employing the latest tools and technologies to enable the continued success of the High Frequency Trading business
