Execution Trader/Structurer recruitment

Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) is one of the largest European pension funds with assets in excess of £33 billion. The Multi-Asset Allocation Team invests across the entire Scheme in a wide range of strategies and asset classes, including FX, fixed income, equities and commodities.

Due to continued expansion in the Multi-Asset area, USS is seeking a specialist implementation and execution professional with derivatives and structuring experience. The principal responsibilities of the role will be to implement, monitor and rebalance discretionary and systematic tactical asset allocation positions and to implement and support asset liability hedging as may be required for the entire scheme.

The position will report directly to the Co-Heads of Multi-Asset Allocation

The Role

• Identify and access best instruments to express discretionary and systematic asset allocation views, implement and execute, communicate and interact with counterparties and manage orders.

• Research and monitor markets, instruments, pricing and liquidity.

• Monitor portfolio positions, risk, rolls and rebalancing.

• Implement asset -liability solutions, assess hedging opportunities, physical vs. derivative positions, time horizon and pricing.

• Ensure financing and collateral requirements are satisfied.

• Interface with middle and back office regarding trade and settlement issues.

• Communicate and report on activity and proposals, cases for trades and structures, and develop desk trading manuals and routines.

The Person

• Graduate or advanced degree in science/economics/finance/engineering

• Excellent understanding of financial instruments, including range of derivatives.

• Minimum 5 years of diverse trading and execution experience, including derivatives trading, valuation and valuation systems.

• Ability to use and if necessary further develop tools and systems.

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

• Team player with ability to multi-task and prioritise.
