This position reports to the Greater Newark Area Coordinator / Corps Commanding Officer. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the operations and strategic planning of The Salvation Army Boys Girls Club of the Ironbound ("The Club") in support of its organizational mission and goals. Key responsibilities include developing goals, attaining, allocating and managing resources, establishing policies and providing direction and supervision to staff members, including conducting staff performance reviews and providing guidance and opportunities for development of staff members. Key roles include leadership, assisting with Advisory Council development, including assisting in the recruitment of members along with assisting in the active participation and education of members. Additional duties include marketing and public relations along with special event planning and attendance. Budgetary responsibilities include assisting in the implementation and monitoring of the annual budget, assisting in maintaining adequate cash flow, assisting with development plans to generate revenue through a variety of fund raising techniques. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing services and activities that facilitate the achievement of youth and senior development programs. Required Experience: The knowledge and skills required for this position include Bachelor's degree, minimum three years management or operations experience in a Boys and Girls Club or equivalent experience. Support for and knowledge of the mission of The Salvation Army and the objectives, policies and programs of the Boys Girls Club is required. Experience with or knowledge of nonprofit management, resource development and funding sources is also key. The right candidate will have a demonstrated ability to effectively manage operations along with strong leadership, communication and relationship building skills.
