POSITION:

Executive Director - Nonprofit

 

FUNCTION:

Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Chairperson and the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead the transformation of the organization from its current stage to a more mature organization capable of delivering on its long term vision.  Specifically, s/he will ensure that the organization’s fiscal, operations, fundraising, marketing and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and management

·         Collaborate with the Chairperson and the Board to define and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, programs, staff and priorities are aligned with the organization’s core mission.

·         Oversee the financial status of the organization including developing long and short range financial plans, monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place; set financial priorities accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the direction set by the Board and needs of the programs and staff.

·         Support operations and administration of the organization through effective communications and interface between the Chairperson, Board and staff.  Seek and build Board involvement with strategic direction of ongoing financial operations and programmatic performance against stated milestones and goals.

 

Program operations and development

·         Formulate and execute comprehensive marketing, branding and development strategies that will ensure consistency throughout the organization and enhance revenue from major donors, foundations, research institutions, government agencies and corporations.

·         Direct and maintain effective program delivery through utilization of new and existing relationships and partners.   Provide Florida entrepreneurs access to funding sources through continual development and promotion of useful and engaging programs.

·         Become an external local and regional presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the organization’s programs as models for regional and national replication.

 

Fundraising and communications

·         Expand the organization revenue generating and fundraising activities to support the organization’s core mission, existing program operations and regional expansion.

·         In conjunction with the Board, the Director will design and execute on a comprehensive development and fundraising strategy for the organization.  These activities shall include (but not be limited to) donations, sponsorships, state and local grants and program revenue.

·         Oversee this fundraising planning implementation to include identification of resource requirements, new and existing funding source research and strategies for execution thereon.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Executive Director will be thoroughly committed to the organization’s core mission.  All candidates should have proven leadership and relationship management experience.  Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:

·         Advanced degree, ideally an MBA with a minimum of 10 years of senior management experience.

·         Thorough understanding of capital raising and equity structure for corporations in the entrepreneurial and venture backed stages.

·         Significant board development, fundraising, marketing/branding and fiscal management experience a must.

·         Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate current board member relationships.

·         Strong marketing, public speaking relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.  Excellent reputation with strong business and governmental contacts in Florida and the southeast are desirable.

·         Demonstrable presentation skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with superb interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

·         Proven ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

·         The successful candidate will be passionate, idealistic, a person of integrity, have a positive attitude, mission driven and self-directed.

 

This position will be based in Florida and will require regional/national travel.  Candidates should be current Florida residents or have immediate plans for relocation.  Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
