Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
The Executive Director is a registered professional nurse who has the authority and responsibility for the administration of the Emergency Services ND/HD and Critical Care Services ND, defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice and quality of care within the institution. She/he is responsible for the formulation and implementation of operational policies and procedures necessary to meet these objectives. This position is responsible for coordinating, guiding and monitoring the professional nursing practice and patient-centered care throughout Emergency Services at North Decatur and Hillandale and Critical Care Services at North Decatur. The Executive Director will collaborate with other executives and colleagues to make decisions that impact outcomes across all settings and will collaborate with other professionals to maintain patient care standards that align with mission, vision and values. She/he will be specifically responsible for directing and monitoring patient care standards carried out by nursing personnel.
Executive Functions:
In collaboration with system leadership, the Executive Director of Emergency Services and Critical Care Services North Decatur is responsible for:
- Developing, organizing, coordinating and facilitating division specific strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
- Translating the system vision to departmental, operational strategies, prioritizing and executing those strategies.
- Initiating and integrating varied nursing practices, standards, policies and procedures to insure optimization of resources.
- Monitoring the healthcare industry to insure regulatory awareness and compliance while facilitating a competitive position in the market.
- Establishing an environmental framework that celebrates cultural diversity, communication, teamwork, business ethics, systems thinking, accountability and empowerment.
- Developing and managing a fiscal, operational and capital plan that supports system strategic imperatives.
- Providing consistent and rational leadership in organizing a response to a crisis and/or disaster. Maintains steady state disaster preparedness.
- Performing other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accountable for directing, supervising and evaluation of patient care given on assigned nursing units
- Responsible for management and supervision of nursing managers on assigned units
- Responsible for supervising and directing educational, financial, staffing, equipment and supply needs for assigned units
- Participates in professional organizations and activities that promote growth and development
- Supports nursing/hospital philosophy and mission
- Participates in activities that involve patient care services division or hospital interdepartmental functions
- Ensures patient care services division adheres to organizational service excellence standards and best clinical and administrative practices.
- Supports institutional compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of practice, including The Joint Commission and CMS.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining an active “continuity of operations” plans for crisis and disaster situations including plans to keep personnel safe in a disaster and for monitoring the physical/mental well-being, stress levels and demands on staff during crisis/disaster.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Current Georgia license to practice as a registered nurse
- Previous supervisory experience with knowledge of clinical competence in area of practice
- BSN and MSN required
- Demonstrated professional manner in work setting
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to Sr. VP, Chief Clinical Operating Officer/Chief Nurse Executive
