Executive Director Energy Products recruitment

As a leader within the CME Energy team, the Executive Director, Crude Refined Products is responsible for expanding the CME Group NYMEX customer base, developing new product markets and business opportunities, and increasing revenues and volumes from new and existing customers primarily within the Crude Refined Products sector, while secondarily aiding our Natural Gas, and Power Emissions product groups. The position requires a keen understanding of NYMEX’s products both in the derivative and in the cash/physical market(s) as well as the target customer segments. This position will identify and prioritize key players and top targets and corresponding opportunities for growth in line with broader CMEG product growth objectives, and develop strategies and tactics to capitalize on the growth opportunities. The position is based in New York.

The Responsibilities:

• Partner with Energy BLM Managing Director to take ownership of the Crude and Refined Products strategy, including decision making for and execution of product launches and product improvements within the energy product suite.

• Work effectively with CMEG executive levels, on issues that impact the division and/or the organization on a whole.

• Act as a senior liaison to key industry trade groups and customers. Maintain good relationships with various sales and distribution sales, Energy based futures brokerage companies, and vendors in their international region.

• Develop and manage execution of detailed business plans, ensuring that all financial goals are met or exceeded

• Partner with product development department to develop, launch and build markets for new and innovative energy products

• Set or significantly influence department goals, strategy and policy formulation in an effort to strengthen CMEG's long term position in tradeable energy products.

• Educate existing and prospective customers about the benefits and opportunities NYMEX products provide to risk managers and traders.

• Develop and manage execution of detailed business plans, ensuring that all financial goals are met or exceeded

• Apply and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how CME Group differentiates itself from competitors.

• Provide leadership, guidance and development plans for direct reports

• Offer in-depth knowledge of NYMEX’s Energy products (with particular emphasis on the Oil complex) as well as the targeted customer segments. Generate new customer business for the Energy products.

• Engage in analysis of complex, dynamic, wide-ranging types of information to identify business opportunities and potential problem areas, for the Energy division. Develop innovative solutions that have significant impact to CME Group and the industry.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 12+ years of experience in Energy and derivatives markets with deep expertise in Crude and Refined products. Knowledge of OTC, options, and volatility products is preferred.

• Extensive experience working with clients to facilitate their understanding of the application of CMEG’s products to their trading, investment and risk management needs.

• A thorough understanding of NYMEX Crude products is needed, and knowledge of other CME/NYMEX energy products and competitor products considered a plus.

• It is critical that this person has considerable knowledge in Commodity futures and options products, and helpful if he/she brings knowledge of electronic trading technology and sales experience.

• Proven leadership experience

• Bachelors Degree with advanced degree preferred.
