Executive Office, Internal Communications – Associate/VP recruitment

Internal Communications is seeking a communications professional with proven writing and project management skills. Based in London, this person will act as the central point of contact for Internal Communications in the EMEA region. They will be responsible for all manner of Executive Office communications and divisional communications consulting. In addition, this person will work on a number of special projects within the Executive Office which will require great flexibility in terms of tasks and responsibilities. The ability to cultivate relationships across divisions and business lines is critical, as is the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a global team.

Internal Communications

Internal Communications is an integral part of Corporate Communications and focuses on reinforcing the culture of Goldman Sachs, keeping our people informed about news of the firm, our viewpoints on the global markets, our diverse businesses, and management announcements. The team serves both the Executive Office and as a consultant to our divisions to develop communications solutions. Internal Communications uses a variety of channels to communicate information throughout the firm - including GSWeb, To All e-mails, newsletters, voicemails, global townhalls, and briefing toolkits and talking points.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with senior leadership in the region to create and disseminate EMEA Executive Office messages through both one-off communications and holistic marketing plans for region-wide initiatives.

• Serve as the Internal Communications Relationship Manager for EMEA - build relationships with internal clients, functioning as central internal consultant across divisions.

• Provide the Internal Communications “Core Suite of Services” including ongoing divisional To All reviews, GSWeb article generation, visual campaign approvals, communication plans, web consulting and best practices and GS style training.

• Drive and implement the strategic vision of Internal Communications in the region – including creating new products and processes that promote IC’s mission of reinforcing the culture.

• Work closely with other Executive Office teams (e.g. Media Relations, Brand Marketing, Office of Corporate Engagement) on idea generation and to ensure messaging is consistent across disciplines.

• Manage executive engagement within the region to ensure leadership has visibility with the internal constituency. Track impact, make and execute on recommendations (e.g. regional townhalls).

• Work with regional offices within EMEA to develop bespoke internal communications solutions for these locations.

• Serve as primary sender for broad communications to the region (and as back-up for the Asia and New York teams).

• Contribute to global efforts such as the Thought Leadership Forum and archiving projects.

• Serve as the Executive Office and communications contact for all crisis incidents in the region.

Key Skills

• Excellent communication skills; must present well, exhibit poise under pressure, be articulate and serve as an ambassador for Internal Communications.

• Requires outstanding written and editorial skills. (A writing test will be administered)

• Knowledge of financial services and the products and processes of a full service investment bank and broker dealer.

• Professional writing experience in the financial sector preferred.

• Ability to establish a broad network within a complex organization.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes.

• Driven/self-starter – willingness to do what is required to deliver a superior product.

• Excellent project management skills – ability to multi-task and act autonomously.

• An understanding and appreciation for the firm’s culture.

• Minimum three years experience in the corporate environment.
