Synopsis:
The TBOC Training Division locates real world operational events from a variety of data sources then transforms those events using state of the art messaging system applications. The transformed data can then be displayed on standard Army command and control systems (i.e. Distributed Common Ground Station - Army (DCGS-A)) presenting operators, in a training environment, with a realistic replication of information available on the real battlefield. This allows soldiers the ability to hone their battle staff skills against their future deployment or contingency area of operation environment. Position is located in Newport News, VA
Basic Functions:
The OE database manager accomplishes the following:
- Identify and build, based on input from the training audience and/or exercise support agency, the unit area of operation including operational graphics depicting major road networks, cities/towns, operating facilities, and boundaries.
- Identify and pull data required to build a data base that will best replicate the area of operation and support the exercise training objectives.
- Transform the data to fit the unit training area including the operational graphics, activity hot spots, and areas of interest in support of unit training objectives.
- Conduct quality control of the transformed data to ensure accuracy and realism and to ensure discrepancies are identified and corrected.
- Brief the results of the transformed data base to the exercise leadership.
- Assist the TBOC Comprehensive Look Team with building the intelligence products that support the training exercise using the transformed data base.
- Participate in the training exercise to ensure the data base is presented to the training audience properly.
- Assist the training exercise leadership with exercise scenario development and execute on-site changes required to the data base resulting from changes to the exercise scenario.
Required Skills:
- Former military with training/ground operations experience.
- Computer experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint required.
- 6 years of military operational experience minimum, 8 plus years preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively is required (50-60%).
- Secret clearance is required; TS/SCI clearance is preferred. Must be eligible for TS/SCI.
- Valid passport is required.Preferred Skills:
- OIF/OEF/OND experience preferred.
- Data base management, including data mining, experience preferred.
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred.
