APAC Unicorn Programme requires strong leadership to deliver the transfer of branch assets and subsidiaries in Indonesia and Thailand in 2012.
Description
Structured Exotic Ops provide front to back operational support for the FICC Sales Trading business in APAC. Individuals are required to establish close working relationships across Asia Pacific and London with colleagues in other Operations teams, as well as with Front Office staff. Excellent technical knowledge and communication skills are therefore keys to success in the role along with the ability to innovate and implement change.
- Structured Exotic Derivatives Operations Middle Office provides dedicated local support to the FICC APAC trading business. They are responsible for maintaining and developing the control environment for this product suite, as well as managing timely and efficient resolution of queries from the Front office and other operational areas where required.
- This role is based within the Operations SE Middle Office team, as an Associate who is able to support the Exotic Rates business for the APAC. The individual of this support requires strong multi-faceted individual who is able to understand the lifecycles of the products traded and the systems and reporting mechanisms required enabling full control and accurate and appropriate information to be supplied.
- The individual will be also responsible for working closely with the Global MO team in London and Singapore, Settlements, Confirmations, local branch Operations, local Front Office, Operations Front Office Technology, Finance and Risk teams in this complex environment where business support exist globally.
The successful candidate would be performing the following tasks on a daily basis (but are not limited to):
- Front-line support to the trading desks: Trade validation, live query resolution, complex deal auditing, market data management
- Control Reconciliations Reporting: Inter-system reconciliations; Cash Reconciliations
- PL/Risk substantiation: To PL reporting, assessing trade amend PL impact
- Life cycle event management: including Call, Trigger, Early Redemption monitoring; Exotic Coupon calculation and verification
- Business Development and structured transaction coordination: Working closely with the Exotic Rates Technical Support area to conduct feasibility analysis of new business products and platforms; taking the lead in coordinating complex transactions between multiple interdependent business areas and operations teams.
- This is a demanding role which will require the candidate to hit the ground running thus experience in the Exotic Rates business support function would be ideal, with a minimum of several years experience of working in a middle office support function, demonstrating good knowledge and understanding of the required operational skills.
- An advanced understanding of, and the ability to book, all relevant Structured Exotics Rates products. This will include IRS, XCCY Swaps, Interest Rate Swaps, FX, Swaptions, Range Accruals, Inflation Swaps and the CAF platform, CMS Spread, FX Options, hybrid structures
- Detailed understanding of the individual lifecycles of the above product set (including all trade events cash events) and the systems and reporting mechanisms required to enable full control of operational risk
- Understanding of the full front to back Operations process chain including confirmations and settlements processes
- Understanding of System PL process and basic PL decomposition for the above product set
- Understanding of the key elements of other infrastructure groups i.e. Finance, Market risk, Credit risk, Operational risk, Legal, Tax and Compliance
- Ability to communicate effectively with key internal and external clients (telephone, e-mail, fax, written reports, formal correspondence, etc)
- Ability to be able to identify risks, assess and quantify their impact, and develop actions or plans that mitigate those risks manifesting themselves
- Be able to constructively challenge processes, approaches, attitudes, where this will result in improvement or value to Operations
- Be able to solve complex problems across a broad range of disciplines (functional as well as project-orientated). To be able to understand the bigger picture and ensure relative priority and perspective is brought to bear
