Expat Canadians Working in Private Equity — Director/Principal recruitment
Our client is a highly regarded mid-market direct private equity firm with a long term track record of success across multiple funds and a North American mandate. The ideal candidate will be a "deal captain" and must have direct private equity investing experience working in the US or Canada. A demonstrated track record of personal success and proven transactional execution experience across multiple investments is vital.
Responsibilities:
- Exceptional leadership capability in the development and execution of a private equity due diligence plan through to final execution.
- Experience in both private company acquisitions and exit strategies/processes.
- Working in close collaboration with senior level team members.
- Previous experience in financial modeling, financial, operational and industry due diligence analysis.
- Well experienced in financial structuring of transactions and network of lender relationships.
- Extensive experience in reviewing and negotiating credit agreements and purchase agreements.
- Absolute attention to detail combined with a thorough overall transaction management approach.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
- A hands on attitude with a willingness to handle multiple aspects of the transaction including modeling where needed.
- Exceptional client portfolio management skills from inital platform acquisition through future add-ons.
- A positive and highly collaborative team approach.
- Collaborative, diplomatic,respected, confident and conscientious both within an organization, with clients and with third parties.
- Managing and maintaining a positive and effective relationship with portfolio company CEO’sand CFO’s.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry related professionals and experts.
Background:
- Canadian citizenship required or strong personal ties to Canada.
- 4 to 7 years of direct private equity investment experience within North America, with a reputable and successful firm.
- Mid cap investment experience, preferred or desire to focus on the midcap sector.
- Prior experience in investment banking, preferred
- MBA or CFA an asset, in addition to an undergrad in business or commerce, engineering or mathematics.
- History of above average academic and professional achievements.
- Diverse industry experience or keen desire to take a diverse approach.
- Comfortable in a boutique firm setting.
