Expense Category Management
This role sits within the Efficiency Management (EM) department, which is part of the firm's CFO Division. Efficiency Management works in close partnership with all divisions and regions to drive the bank's cost reduction efforts through an integrated approach that addresses the bank's policies, processes, demand management and supply management.
Summary:
- As part of the Professional Services Expense Category Management team within Efficiency Management, drive cost strategy implementation across the Outsourcing and IT Consulting spend categories as well as manage other key initiatives that arise in the wider consulting or outsourcing arenas
- Establish the category strategy plan that entails identifying and prioritizing demand and supply initiatives to better manage the costs and vendors to reduce costs where appropriate and in line with respective CS Divisional strategies.
- Build partnerships with respective CS departments and key stakeholders to support the efficiency of the Outsourcing and IT Consulting spend category.
Key Tasks:
- Be responsible for a portfolio of cross-divisional cost savings programs related to respective Outsourcing and IT Consulting expense lines
- Gain support and acceptance of ideas and initiatives at senior levels within Efficiency Management and the wider CS organization
- Assume a leadership role in the entire savings project life cycle from idea conception to analysis, implementation planning, execution, delivery, and post implementation analysis
- Establish specific expense line efficiency targets and consistently track, report and assist in savings validation of respective initiatives and negotiations
- Effectively coordinate the execution of successful Outsourcing and IT Consulting vendor project contract negotiations
- Ensure that there is expenditure approval for the respective budgets for specific deal contracts
- Develop credibility and operate as a subject matter expert and internal consultant for respective expense line expenditures efficiency plays and become the first point of contact for the business stakeholders in respect of Outsourcing and IT Consulting vendors
- Build effective and cooperative alliances externally with key vendors and manage directly those vendor relationships
- Significant experience of working within the consulting industry and / or in Professional Services sourcing covering outsourcing / IT consulting
- Experience from within a Big 4 audit /consulting firm or similar consultancy practice (e.g. BIG 4 off shore vendors) desirable or within a professional Sourcing/ cost management team in financial services industry
- Significant experience in Outsourcing and IT Consulting project structures, business case production and review, included but not limited to scoping, pricing models utilized, performance measurements including setting service standards and KPIs
- Procurement experience and demand side knowledge helpful
- Strong influencing, collaboration and relationship-building skills both internally with key stakeholders and externally with vendors
- Ability to analyze markets and gather intelligence on market conditions and supply/demand drivers
- Strong data analytic and project management skills
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Proven track record of working in a multi-task, international environment with an ability to work effectively cross border
- Advanced MS Excel Power Point skills ability to easily learn other standard procurement and demand management tools
- Fluent spoken and written English, other languages an advantage
