Experienced Emerging Markets / Latin American Economist Researcher – Top Tier Hedge Fund – New York – Up to $150k + Bonus + Package recruitment

Montash Associates is working closely with a leading, well established hedge fund, and are looking to source and experienced emerging markets economist to work alongside a team of senior portfolio managers.

The core focus of this role will be to provide insight and recommendations in regards to trade ideas in the Latin America region. This role is working directly alongside a leading portfolio manager, and this individual will be directly involved in trade idea generation and execution. Ideas, research, insights and recommendations generated will also be shared to the rest of the group globally.

The main focus of this individual will be on EM, although there will be variation in the role as the market dictates. This is a well-established firm, but the team is relatively small and collaborative. This individual must track changes and trends in the LatAm financial markets. There is a strong focus on analytical analysis of sustainability, political developments and inflation. There will also be a focus on risk analysis and predictive modelling.

In order to qualify for this role, the ideal candidate will have:

• Excellent academic track record, post graduate degree in Finance or Economics

• Strong quantitative skills

• Up to 6 years’ experience in a leading financial institution, exposure to LatAm and indepth knowledge of multiple markets

• Proven track record of undertaking independent data analysis

• Knowledge of econometrics/statistics

• Strong research focus

• Excellent communication, both written and verbally. Strong teamwork skills

In return for this, the package on offer will be market leading. The base salary will be entirely dependent upon the specific individual, and will be up to $150k. There will be an excellent, buy side bonus on top of this, as well as a benefits package.
