C++ Developer – Leading Global Proprietary Trading Firm
My Client, a Leading Global Prop Trading House, is searching for a strong C++ developer / C++ specialist to join a rapid response team that is integral to the firm. The successful candidate will take on the role of a C++ Developer working directly with the traders and will be involved with rapid response prototyping, trading platform development and system enhancements.
This is a very collaboration-minded organisation, and everyone works together to achieve a common goal – the fastest and best trading systems on the planet.
The ideal candidate will be considered a potential future leader and will be a passionate hands-on C++ developer and OO technologist. The following technical skills are required:
- Good C++ with strong object oriented design skills
- Experience in developing with STL and/or Boost
- Understanding and experience developing mission critical performance sensitive real-time systems
- Experienced in multi-threaded and preferably network software development
- Cross-platform development (Windows and Linux)
- Thorough understanding of software development methodologies – especially Scrum/Agile methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
As important as the technical skills, are the interpersonal skills of this individual. The firm are looking for someone who will proactively go to the traders with solutions to issues and ideas for enhancements, rather than waiting for issues and then being pushed into solving them. The following soft skills are required:
- Strong sense of personal responsibility, results-oriented
- Capable of meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure
- Capable of working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Desire to learn more, particularly about financial markets
- Strong understanding of the commercial nature of the business
- Strong team-oriented attitude with natural inclination to share and collaborate
Other fundamentals include:
- Strong academic background with a 2:1 or above in a Computer Science or related subject from a leading University.
- Ability to work in often highly pressurised environments and to tight deadlines.
- Motivated, enthusiastic and thrives in a dynamic environment.
- Assured and confident in own abilities and speaking with senior members of the organisation.
- Must have a record of delivery and achievement to a high standard.
This candidate will preferably come from a Prop House, Hedge Fund or Investment Banking background, however, very strong C++ technologists from outside of finance if they demonstrate a strong desire to learn this industry.
This is a key hire for the fund, and as such the remuneration will be excellent; a competitive base and very good biannual bonus show that only the very best candidates will be considered.
