External Auditors

The National Audit Office (NAO) is the UK’s main public sector audit body. Independent of government, they have responsibility for auditing the accounts of various public sector bodies, examining the propriety of government spending, assessing risks to financial control and accountability, and reviewing the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of programmes, projects and activities. They report directly to Parliament, through the Committee of Public Accounts of the House of Commons, which uses our reports as the basis of its own investigations. They work in one of two main areas, financial audit or value for money (VFM) audit.

All posts carry a mobility obligation and, given the locations of our clients, post holders will be expected to travel away from home from time to time requiring overnight stays when necessary.

• Professional accountancy qualifications (part qualified and qualified)
• Strong IT Skills
• Strong time management skills and ability to deliver projects on time
• Able to create clear and concise documentation of audit findings and prepare associated report points
• Able to interact with clients in a professional manner
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing at all levels
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as a member of a team
• Willing to travel
• Some form of external audit experience within the last 5 years
