CABLE EXTRUDER ASSOCIATE
An extrusion operator is capable of set up and operating a number of different screw machine extruders whose primary function is to melt the plastic resin and compress it into a homogeneous viscous fluid and exerts sufficient pressure to force the molten plastic through the die.
Cable Extruder Associate Essential Job Functions:
1. Set up and operate extrusion production equipment following work instructions and machine standards to ensure that a quality product is produced.
2. Operate multiple auxiliary equipment such as an IR heater, laser micrometer and material dryers and perform multiple tasks in a short amount of time.
Skills Desired:
1. Knowledge of breaker plates and screen packs
2. Hopper and Dryers
3. Screw zones: metering zone, compression zone and feed zone
4. Speed control-variable drive motors
5. Cleaning of breaker plate, screens, tips and dies
6. Cross head assembly

CABLE FABRICATION ASSOCIATE
A cable fab associate produces twisted wire, sub assembly components and/or hoses. Common processes include bunching or twisting machines, stranding (twisting together of multiple strands), twinning (twisting two conductors into pairs), quadding (4 previously produced pairs twisted together to form a 4 pair), braiding, and armoring cables in a planetary cabler
Skills Desired:
1. Knowledge of Bunching, stranding, twinning planetary cabler and braiding equipment.
2. Knowledge of lay direction (right hand (z strand) vs left hand lay(s strand)
3. Ability to check color codes
4. Knowledge of various braiding materials (Kevlar, Nylon, Polyester, Teflon, metallic braids)
5. Knowledge of closing dies
6. Knowledge of cable armoring with steel/high tensile steel
7. Tape heads and various taping materials
8. Payoffs and take-ups
9. Capstans, caterpillar
10. Guide plates (lay plates).
11. Diameter control
12. Various reel types and sizes, spools for braiding, rotary braiding machines
13. Loading and unloading characteristics of machines
14. Length counters, operational controls, tension controls and emergency stops.
15. Understanding elongation, wire resistance, weight, length, appearance, cast memory.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, you will need:
1. Solid employment history related to attendance, safety, quality and efficiency.
2. High School diploma or GED.
3. Basic mathematical skills
4. Basic knowledge of calipers, micrometers, reading dial gauges, tape measures
5. Basic knowledge of cabling equipment and mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds
2. Ability to stand for extended periods of time (10 hours/day)
3. Ability to work in hot and cold environment (50 degrees to 100 degrees)
