Position Description

The Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) team has a need for Systems Security Engineers in support of the F/A-18 Automated Maintenance Environment (AME) program to perform Information Assurance (IA) tasks including: developing and maintaining certification and accreditation packages; analyzing and applying DoD security policies; performing IA vulnerability analysis and validation; and developing and communicating/coordinating vulnerability mitigation plans. Responsibilities for this position also include working with the Navy customer, presenting details of the security approach and status of progress; working with system/software engineers to implement and test security features; identifying risks, issues, and opportunities for program success; developing and delivering presentations; and proposal writing activity to win future contracts with Information Assurance requirements. Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated history of participation in successful accreditation efforts for complex DoD systems comprised of both COTS and military processing and communications components. Experience with the DIACAP certification process is highly desirable. Detailed knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems, client-server and web-based architectures, and relational databases is required. The successful candidate will also be able and willing to teach and mentor others in this growing field of IA.

Typical Education/Experience

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information

Security+ certification is highly desirable. Position is contingent on contract award (anticipated January 2012) and customer security approval. Occasional overtime may be required.
