Summary:

Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in the fabrication, processing, and assembly of sheet metal components, aluminum castings, and extruded metal components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyzes work orders and blue prints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations.

Requisitions dies, fixtures, and material.

Examines defective machinery to determine cause of malfunction and reports need for machine repair.

Inspects quality of work in progress and finished products.

Studies production schedules and estimates work hour requirements.

Communicates company polices to workers and enforces company policies.

Ensures employees follow safe work practices.

Administers disciplinary action when needed.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production requirements.

Provides employee training and motivation.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase productivity of shop, department, or work crew.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

Maintains employee time and production records.

Communicates with other departments, shifts and management.

 

Job Requirements:

Must have full knowledge of using CNC equipment, power presses, press brakes, and welders to fabricate and assemble metal parts and components. 

Must be able to understand and interpret blue prints.

Must be competent in the use of various types of measuring instruments.

Must have strong written, verbal and math skills.

Must be able to multi-task projects and must be proficient in the use of a computer.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  A minimum of two years of previous work related, supervisory experience is required.  Vocational training or related college experience is a plus.
