Job Summary
Responsible for the overall efficient and safe operation of Dyax’s office and lab space.
Essential Functions
- Overall organization and operation of Dyax’s office and lab, and management of Facilities Department.
- Management of supplies, materials, EHS, hygiene, services, purchases, permits, lab orientation and training. Will develop and manage department budget.
- Manage and support the efficient operation of Dyax’s lab by: ordering supplies, shipping receiving materials to and from lab, maintenance of all lab equipment, service contracts, maintenance and repairs.
- Develop effective relationships with scientific staff to understand research needs and to develop operating process that balance efficiency, cost and flexibility.
- Safety Management - Manage the safety program at Dyax implementing policies and procedures where applicable. Ensure compliance with all necessary standards and regulations issued by federal, state and local agencies. Responsible for ensuring completion of safety regulatory reporting, permit applications and permit maintenance including wastewater, EPCRA, hazardous waste, flammables, controlled substances, etc. Oversee employee occupational health programs, including medical surveillance, immunization programs, and industrial hygiene sampling.
- Provisioning and orientation for new hires including the operation and coordination of our occupational medicine program with designated occupational health service.
- Purchase supplies, materials and capital equipment as needed to meet Dyax’s goals.
- Manage the receiving process. Ensure that deliveries are accepted, electronically received and delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
- Lab Support - Manage the supplies, media, and services to support ongoing R+D programs. Manage employee to fulfill Lab Services requests, orders, and meet glassware needs of busy multifunction laboratory.
- Lease Management - Manage relationship with Landlord.
- Space Planning - Manage space needs to meet corporate direction and program needs. Work within available office and seating plans to fit all new and current employees equitably keeping working groups together whenever possible.
- Facilities Maintenance - Manage the housekeeping and maintenance programs at Dyax. Maintain the overall function of Lab and office equipment, space, and comfort level. Manage employee(s) and vendors to meet needs of Company.
- Policies and Procedures - Document in writing policies and procedures to be followed for specific events and topics to promote efficiency and best use of department personnel.
- Facilities Work Orders - Manage and prioritize requests in order of importance.

Required Experience
Required
Greater than 7 years of relevant experience.
Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
Working knowledge of state and federal statutes and regulations related specifically to laboratory safety, and/or Chemical/Biohazard Safety, and an ability to interpret the implementation of these requirements into practical applications.

40-hour HAZWOPER certification

R+D Laboratory environment includes routine exposure to general chemical and biological hazards.
May require occasional lifting not greater than 50 pounds.
