Facilities Electrical Engineer Job in Wilmington 28405, North Carolina US

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Serve as an electrical subject matter expert (SME) on pollution abatement’ equipment (scrubbers, baghouses) to minimize equipment down time and process interruptions and maintain environmental compliance.

• Provide guidance and support for pollution abatement equipment related troubleshooting and repair issues.

• Provide engineering support for design, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation of new or modified equipment.

• Work with support groups and plant teams to coordinate and direct equipment start-up, repair, troubleshooting, and process changes.

• Interface with vendors to insure that adequate supplies and services are provided for pollution abatement equipment.

• Ensure environmental monitoring records are printed and archived as required.

• Direct maintenance personnel and/or contractors in the construction, testing, installation, and debugging of equipment.

• Spec out and formulate tests or experiments for prototype equipment.

• As needed, develop, document, and deliver training packages for new or modified equipment to operations and support groups.

• Understand and audit for equipment safety and personnel safety.

Projects involved with:

• Assist with the planning and execution of the annual Plant maintenance shutdown activities.

• Hurricane lock-in/start-up team support – expected to be member of lock-in or start-up team for Hurricane contingency.

• Weekend team duties – on 4 week rotation to provide electrical control, instrumentation and DCS support to Pollution Abatement area.

• Provide guidance and support to Facilities Engineering projects as needed.

Requirements:

Required Education:

• BS Electrical Engineering

Required Years and Area of Experience:

• 3 - 5 years

Required Skills:

• Strong fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering concepts

• Electrical; Troubleshooting and previous hands on experience

• Controls and Instrumentation experience

• Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessary

• Ability to estimate scope timeline requirements for technical work

Desired Skills:

• PLC programming experience

• Proficiency in CAD and reading mechanical/electrical schematics

• Mechanical aptitude and exposure

• Low voltage power experience

• Understanding of and experience with Distributive Control Systems (will train if necessary)

• Familiarity with NEC Codes

• Understanding TPM, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing methodologies

Soft Skills:

• Good written and communication skills

• PC proficient – Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

• Experience working in cross functional engineering/manufacturing teams to solve problems.

• Self directed/Detail oriented

• Strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently or in teams.

Travel Requirements:

• Minimal in US

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

• Full - time; Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
