Position Description This posting is for an Equipment Engineer to support majority of Production Automated Test Equipment (ATE), Non-Automated (Electric/Electronic) Production Test Equipment, non-Automated (Electric/Electronic) Production Equipment in 787 BSC Charleston Final Assembly and Delivery Center (Field). We're seeking a candidate with experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), including Allen Bradley and Siemens, as well as other industry standard controls and associated software (e.g. Simotion Scout, Step7, Logix 5000). Responsibilities include: Troubleshooting and improving controls based equipment. Investigating and developing tooling/equipment solutions for 787 Final Assembly by exercise going to scene and confirm the problem, able to use Engineering tools to assess and solve problems as such as 5Why, cause-effect diagram, etc. Coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering to identify and create tool/equipment work-around to support emergent requirements. Developing improvement concepts and plans for tools and equipment to support a lean, flexible assembly line. Interfacing with program partners ensuring open communication of requirements between sites are understood and agreed to. Project managing equipment acquisitions by writing bid specifications, selecting suppliers, and reviewing their designs. Ensuring cost, delivery, quality and safety requirements are met. Developing basic, routine specifications, conceptual and final designs, and providing maintenance support for the procurement or modification of equipment systems. Aligning specifications and/or designs with customer requirements, codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of process engineering principles, practices, and materials. Maintaining controls hardware and documentation configuration of equipment in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements to ensure a maintainable, repeatable process. Creating cost estimates for the acquisition and/or installation or modification of equipment to support customer budget and business planning activities for current and future year requirements. Work in a team environment using Engineering expertise to implement and share improvements based on Lean concept/Total Productive Manufacturing (e.g. improve safety, eliminate waste, reducing operational costs, reducing set up time, improve 5S, etc), basically through creation of troubleshooting guidelines, structured training, proactive maintenance and design changes in order to achieve customer success. Other Job related information The following skills are highly desired: Equipment Engineering experience, specifically Production Test and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) equipment. Experience with programming of Programmable Logic Controllers. Intimate familiarity with Allen Bradley, Rockwell Software, Siemens Step 7, Siemens WinCC, Siemens SIMOTION Scout, ASIMON. Working knowledge of process control, Proportional Integral Derivatives (PID), motion and safety systems. Experience with object oriented design, C++/C#, software configuration management tools, Windows Server 2003/XP administration, Active Directory Organizational Units (OU) administration and network troubleshooting skills. Experience developing, documenting and deploying software releases to a managed inventory of computing devices. Trained experienced using the new V5 suite of tools including CATIA Enovia and Velocity is desired. Experience developing tool and equipment specifications and project managing tool projects with tool/equipment suppliers.
