Overview:

This is a unique opportunity to assist with the roll-out of a new Sysco Distribution Center located in Long Island, NY. The Facilities Manager will plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the facility functions in such a manner as to promote reliability, teamwork, efficiency and cost control, in accordance with applicable company and regulatory guidelines. The Facilities Manager will be directly responsible for maintaining the integrity of refrigeration, HVAC, sprinkler and electrical systems, dock equipment, warehouse equipment, and storage racking.

 

Core Responsibilities:

·         Directly or indirectly manage employees, and work flow demands, within the following areas: Building Maintenance, Sanitation, and Warehouse Equipment Maintenance.  

·         Manage the refrigeration system, HVAC, energy management systems,  electrical, sprinkler, and security systems.

·         Implement and maintain the facility’s ammonia emergency response program.

·         Responsible for sanitation and preventative maintenance programs. 

·         Coordinate all in-house projects and outside contractor projects.

·         Evaluate vendors on an ongoing basis.

·         Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and legal requirements, including but not limited to EPA, OSHA.

·         Coordinate and lead scheduled and unscheduled inspections conducted by compliance agencies.

·         Create, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs.

·         Manage and research possible rebate projects.

·         Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         5+ years related facilities management experience.

·         HS diploma or equivalent required.

·         Must possess a valid State Driver’s license

Preferred:

·         Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.

·         Experience in Fleet, Facility, or Material Handling Equipment Maintenance Management.

·         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blue prints and as-built plans.

·         Certified in the handling and operation of Freon equipment, emergency response and electrical equipment.

·         Ability to operate and analyze electrical meters and diagnostic equipment and ammonia safety diagnostic equipment. 

·         Knowledge of and ability to use drafting software, MS Outlook and maintenance p/m software program. 

·         Familiarity with special terminology, specifically related to ammonia refrigeration and its safety.

·         Ability to make quick and concise decisions under sometimes adverse conditions.

·         Working knowledge of local building codes, and OSHA standards including, but not limited to, Hazmat, and EPA.
