Job Title: FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER Duty Location(s): Butte, MT Duration of Appointment: Part-time (24 hours) Opening Date: 3/15/12 to 4/15/12 Salary: Negotiable General Description: This position is located at the North American Indian Alliance, (NAIA) Butte, MT. The purpose of this position is to provide general medical care within the scope of licensing, training, and Credentialing to the patients at the North American Indian Alliance. The Family Nurse Practitioner function is to provide primary health care services to individuals of all ages as a member of the clinical team at the North American Indian Alliance. This individual participates in the clinic mission of health and wellness, attends meetings and serves on committees. Main Duties: (Major Duties may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below) Delivers direct primary care. Performs physical examinations, health assessments and treatment of frequently occurring conditions of individuals presenting themselves for care to the NAIA Clinic. Refers individuals for consultation to an appropriate health discipline. Records patient/provider encounters on the PCC form to promote accurate communication between providers, data entry clerk. Participates in promoting health and disease prevention by educating patients on the nature of health related conditions, recommended therapy and healthy lifestyles. Actively participates in the NAIA Staff committees. Assist in activities as indicated and necessary to maintain clinic accreditation. Participates in quality assurance measures as appropriate including peer review. Ensures that client records are kept confidential consistent with the Health Department policies and procedures and HIPAA standards. Monitors HIPAA compliance within the work environment. "All other duties as assigned. Knowledge Required for the Position: "Graduate of an accredited Nursing School in the Nurse Practitioner program. "Possession of a Master's Degree in Nursing and relevant Nurse Practitioner training/certification in the specialty area for the position held. "Engages in CME as required by the licensing board of the State of licensure in order to maintain competency, certification and active medical staff membership. "Possess a license to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the State of Montana. "Skill in working with people with diverse backgrounds and cultures Guidelines: Guidelines available include DHHS, IHS, Billings Area Office, Service Unit and Medical Staff regulations, policies, procedures and bylaws. In addition, traditional and currently accepted medical practices are available in the form of specialty consultation, medical journals, professional organizations and textbooks.
