Summary
Primary responsibility is to drive new sales growth, penetrate targeted clients and build relationships that lead to either SOW or Task Order requirements. Will be the primary person responsible for the full sales lifecycle, driving the initiation and closing of sales contracts, maintaining accurate sales funnel and forecasts, and account management for assigned targets.
Drives account management responsibilities including solution creation, solution offering, configuration management, order issuance, service delivery, service management and revenue recognition. Demonstrates a balance of strategic and tactical thought leadership.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong existing relationship in one or more of the listed agencies (Treasury, Legislative, Postal, Education, or Natural Resources).
Essential Duties
* Demonstrates sales success utilizing government contract vehicles. Knowledge of telecommunications contract vehicles (Networx, WITS 3) and Level 3's competitive positioning on each.
* Identifies, bids on, negotiates, and closes new sales opportunities in order to meet and exceed established sales and revenue quotas. Provides comprehensive account plans and strategies to win new business from both new as well as existing accounts.
* Develops and manages customer relationships in order to gain strategic positioning with decision makers, to win new business and retain existing revenue.
* Develops additional business opportunities within the assigned agencies by implementing action plans to cross-sell and up-sell accounts to increase overall total agency spend with the company.
* Provides input to sales management about trends and changes taking place within the agencies organization, and makes recommendations about future courses of action necessary for the company to improve its position with the agency.
* Provides accurate and detailed weekly forecast funnel of identified and proposed opportunities in order to meet or exceed sales quota requirements.
Education and Experience
* 8+ years of telecommunications or similar network solutions (hardware, collocation, services) sales experience.
* Minimum 3+ years of demonstrated sales success calling on one or more of the following civilian agency segments: Treasury, Legislative, Postal, Education, or Natural Resources.
* Verifiable track record of success penetrating targeted clients/agencies to generate either SOW or Task Order requirements.
* Current experience selling on federal contract vehicles (WITS, Networx, or similar telecommunications contract vehicles preferred).
* Experience in strategic, technical, and business communications application sales.
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
* Experience in solution selling IP, data, voice, and video network services.
* Strong communication skills and proficiency in selling to the close.
Self-motivated, pro-active, results-oriented professional with an ability to work with minimum direction.
Experience with the Siebel forecasting system preferred.
Proficient in MS office products: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Ability to travel regionally, and may travel nationally, to customer facilities as required to secure business.
* Bachelor's Degree preferred.
