The role

Reporting to the Head of School of Economics, the Fellow is responsible for teaching, coordinating and developing the Official Statistics (OS) programme in the Pacific Island Countries (PICS). The appointee will deliver the OS Certificate, Diploma and degree courses generally, including students in PICS through hybrid teaching mode (Web, print, face-to-face and Module teaching).

The appointee will build networks with Pacific Island Country communities, National Statistical offices government organisations and other stakeholders in delivering OS courses and deal with related funding issues. He/she will also assist the School in coordinating the UNFPA Official Statistics project that in currently in progress.

As a Fellow in Official Statistics, the appointee will be responsible for developing the curriculum and OS courses at all levels. He/she will also provide support and guidance to the School on all aspects of administrative work related to the OS programme.

The role requires frequent traveling within the USP member countries, and in-country, sometimes in remote work environments for teaching and coordinating OS programme.

The person

Applicants should possess a postgraduate qualification in the area of Official Statistics or in a relevant discipline, and have significant experience in developing and implementing best practice performance Official Statistics policies and processes, which will enable them to develop a successful, sustainable and continuously improving OS programme. The appointee will have a high level of competence in Official Statistics which will be shared in the School and will assist Pacific Island Countries in developing the OS programme.

The appointee will understand and display a strong commitment to the professional code of conduct and ethics and to statutory requirements, and will also encourage others to work ethically.

Remuneration

The position is available for a fixed term period of three years.

Salary Range:                            F$59 813 to F$78 700 per annum

                                          (Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)

In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate.
