FI Research Web/Java Developer recruitment
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high quality applications in Nomura’s front office Fixed Income Research environment. They will be able to capture verbal and short project specifications, understand the business context and drivers behind requirements and adapt quickly to meet new requirements. Fixed Income Research Technology is a global team, and the successful candidate will work alongside global colleagues as required to deliver solutions to our clients. Their duties will include:
- Working with business teams to gather requirements, establish priorities, dependencies and cost / effort needed to successfully deliver web-based end solutions
- Producing clear specifications of the development work required and managing off-site developers if used to help with web application delivery
- Integrating with existing feeds, time series data and applications
- Developing, testing and releasing web application software in a timely manner project implementation, conforming to existing team standards and web site style guidelines.
Knowledge, Skill, Experience Required:
The candidate will be expected to demonstrate the following:
- Strong Java development experience, including in particular the development of distributed server applications such as RMI servers
- J2EE Application Servers - WebLogic or JBoss preferred
- Relational databases / SQL – ideally Sybase
- Experience of building rich content browser based applications with HTML, Javascript, AJAX, CSS with components such as Java, Silverlight and Flex applets
- Fixed Income product knowledge
- Strong Analytical background
- Ability to communicate both technical concepts and business requirements with all levels of developers, management and business users
- Experience of full project lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment and version control)
