Responsibilities:
The Field Engineer (FE) is the outside engineering representative for a number of strategic accounts in a defined territory and/or a specific industry/technology.
The major tasks in this role are to identify the needs of the customer and to find, together with the customer, new solutions and opportunities for customer's application, using known technologies or new innovative developments. The position is responsible for the design-in and development of new products and for managing the seamless and speedy execution of sales and engineering projects.
The Field Engineer works as the interface between the customer and the TE Engineering Centers and manufacturing plants. The position also owns the full customer support in technical related items concerning the TE products.

Key Tasks:
Demand Creation:
- Identify product and technology needs of the customer as early as possible
- Gather all information needed to make the design input available as complete as possible.
- Work out, prepare and present TE proposals (product selection, design solutions and project objectives)
- Gain, correctly interpret and apply to customer information, internal data and divers research results (markets, competition, technology roadmaps, trends)
- Convince the customer to buy in to the TE Solution.
- Coordinate activities with assigned Account Manager.
Project Management of new and existing sales and engineering projects from demand creation to production:
- Interface between the TE Engineering design team and the customer to ensure that both sides understand the requirements and have all needed information available
- Coordination and early involvement of and on-time communication with all involved TE internal departments (account manager, engineering, production, project management, marketing, etc.)
- Ensure on time customer delivery of all information, including samples and supporting design and product verification activities
- Provide regular project status updates to the involved parties, especially the Account Manager
Develop and maintain a good Customer Relationship and Support customer in technical related items concerning the TE products.
- Continuously caring for a good trusting relationship between the customer and TE
- Stay in permanent contact with the customer and report project status and feedback
- Attend project meetings and conduct regular customer calls and presentations
- Do problem solving and assessing technical complaints
- Help quality teams solve problems with TE products with on-site evaluation and detailed discussion with customers
- Provide technical consultancy and advise
- Draft product specifications and make adjustments with the customer
- Develop higher level relationships within the customer's design/technology organizations.

Job Requirements/Experience Necessary*
- Must have a bachelor's engineering degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Minimum one to three years professional level engineering experience or present technical proven interest and capabilities
- Must have demonstrated successful experience in process management
- Needs business acumen
- Should have had previous experience in sales
- Optimally have a deep and broad knowledge of TE technology and product portfolio and the markets they serve
- Should have had previous exposure to TE processes and structures
- Awareness or ability to gain the relevant market standards and requirements
- Fully acquainted with the computer and common software, including engineering software (3D)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
