The Field Engineer position is a key hands-on position planning, leading, and controlling assigned (simulation/product) projects from conceptual stages through project life cycles to ensure timely delivery, profitability and achievement of all technical, financial, and corporate objectives. Integrate COTS software and hardware debrief systems in a complex flight simulation and/or mission simulation environment. Provides on-site project engineering/support and coordination of complex contracts, projects, or tasks. Maintains schedules on technically complex and demanding projects, tracking project plans and updates, maintenance and reporting, and supports contract administration. Estimates materials, equipment, production costs and delivery schedules. Performs complex systems installations and maintenance, tests, repairs and troubleshoots equipment problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties as may be assigned)
- Engineers installation, integration and testing of COTS debrief system based upon information received from PDR/CDR and TIM.
- Validate and Verify debrief system based upon customer's requirements.
- Provides input to pricing, scheduling, configuration, integration proposals.
- Create ATPs (Acceptance Test Procedure), Cold Start manuals, instructor training guides, maintenance training guides, and schematics for debrief systems.
- Install debrief systems on flight simulators at customer's site, including complete resolution of issues discovered.
- Run ATP with customer and/or end-user; clear any discrepancies during testing to gain acceptance of project.
- Provides maintainer / operator training.
Key Requirements
- The candidate must be proficient in C, C++, and Java with meaningful experience with Linux.
- Communicate project status through initial kick-off meetings and continued project-health (program review) meetings
- Act as primary customer contact for project activities
- Deliver quality projects within the constraint of scope, quality, time, and cost while meeting defined customer requirements
- Define, analyze, assess, and mitigate project risks
- Manage day-to-day progress of project through constant interaction with engineers, vendors/sub-contractors, support personnel, and customers.
- Oversee project schedules
- Drive issues to positive resolutions for SimAuthor and its customers
- Provide technical expertise and assistance (H/W and/or S/W) in support of project
- Assist with sales activities to the extent required to develop project definitions and costing estimates
- Prepare project development objectives and schedules for all project phases
- Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience:
•BS in technical field or equivalent combination of experience and education
•Minimum of five years experience in flight simulator as technician or engineer
•Demonstrated ability to work independently without direct daily supervision
•Demonstrated ability to work closely and successfully with customers
•Demonstrated ability to handle essential duties and responsibilities
•Demonstrated ability to work many hours under pressure and tight deadlines
•Ability and acceptance to travel extensively (50%) - domestic and limited international
•Physical ability to successfully install products at customer facilities
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance at the Secret Level
