Field Inspector / Systems Test Witness

Primary Job Responsibilities Great opportunity to support Program Management team by providing system inspection on major transportation rail construction: * Anticipated Responsibilities: Within an integrated organization acting as a third party provide coordination and oversight of the testing and commissioning of a major heavy rail transit corridor extension to facilitate transfer of ownership from the Contractor to the Owner. Specifically provide: Daily witnessing of various systems qualification testing including communications, signal and traction power sub-systems Diaries of work / tests performed including staff and equipment utilized. Superiors of timely first-hand knowledge of problem areas Recommendations based on experience to immediately resolve problem areas Assurance that work conforms to test plans and associated specifications Reviews and comment on discrepancies or changes to the Engineer Input to various departments (i.e. Project Controls) within the Project team Interface directly with the Design-Builder, the client, the Owner and other public agencies. Training and Experience * Qualifications: Professional knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices for a public rail transit transportation project required. Advanced oral and written communication skills required. Experience with public agencies and the ability to work cooperatively with multiple persons in a multi-stakeholder environment essential. Experience with the Metropolitan Washington Area Transit Authority strongly desired, but not required. Experience with other local agencies including the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Virginia Department of General Services, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Fairfax County and Loudoun County desired, but not required. 5 or more years of railroad or transit inspection experience in track, systems or structural areas. Other Essential Functions Computer Skills: Ability to routinely and efficiently use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of Primavera helpful, but not required. Other Requirements Candidate must be physically fit to work on construction site, walk on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and carry 25#'s for 50'
