The Field Representative is responsible for conducting outside field investigations and customer service activities to support the Claims Service Team (CST). This position may assume responsibility for local administration and coordination of field investigation program to ensure quality and seamless field investigation referrals as well as negotiate settlements or deny claims as appropriate and as directed by the CST and provide assistance to CST in maintaining effective communications with policyholders/customers, including large business or National Accounts.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts outside field investigation on assigned cases, including high exposure/complex claims (fatal, occupational, disease, catastrophic injuries, etc.) and makes recommendations on additional field work as indicated; outside field investigation may also include involvement in after-hour calls if necessary and investigative field work may include:
- Communication with policyholders, customers, claimants, witnesses, physicians, etc. to gather information
- Securing recorded interviews
- Investigating fraud, locus, third party, premises, product or false arrest
- Conducting activity checks and limited surveillance work
- Coordinating expert and accident reconstruction investigations
- Arranging for expert inspections involving third party or potential fraud actions
- Maintains and assists with establishing effective working relationship with policyholders/customers, including large business and national accounts to ensure service arrangements are properly handled including claims reviews and/or file summations
- May be responsible for local administration, coordination and communication of Field Investigation Program which may include: reviewing assignments for completeness, reporting results, and monitoring adherence to the programs guidelines; markets the program to current and prospective customers
- Provides input on performance appraisals
- Prescreens potential applicants for employment
- May negotiate settlements within prescribed limit as defined by the CST
- Makes effective use of loss management products (V2 checks, open end release, first call settlements)
- Prepares timely investigative reports and detailed comprehensive reports when necessary
- May provide technical guidance and training to other FIs within unit by serving as a resource on claims/field investigation technical knowledge, policies and procedures
- May occasionally conduct special investigations of suspicious claims or perform as a WC hearing representative for the company on an as needed basis
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated written and oral communications skills along with the ability to interact with other employees and customer/investigative contacts
- Solid analytical and negotiation skills in order to settle/deny cases and proven ability in investigating more complex claims cases
- Ability to function autonomously
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training, plus 3- 5 years of directly related work experience
- Licensing required in Florida
- Bi-lingual preferred
