Field Safety Coordinator

Job Description We currently have an immediate need for an experienced Safety Coordinator to join our project team based in Toowoomba. You will be working on a large flood recovery programme, assisting with rebuilding Toowoomba and surroundings after last years floods. This position will report to the Safety Manager, and closely support the Contracts Manager, to ensure that safe working behaviours and conditions are demonstrated and maintained by our contractors and staff in the field. To be successful in this role you will be highly proactive and self-motivated, with a focus on monitoring and influencing safety behaviour through your knowledge of best practice and ability to engage people at all levels of a business. Key responsibilities: - Encourage and drive a Zero Harm working culture for all personnel onsite; - Establish and develop productive relationships both internally and externally; - Undertake site audits and observations of contractors and staff; - Identify opportunities for improvement in relation to site work and traffic safety; - Support and assist in the investigation of contractor and RPO7 incidents as required; - Ensure program safety objectives and requirements are being met by contractors and staff; - Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure controls are implemented where required; - Provide safety support and advice to contractors and RPO7 staff on safe work methods; - Conduct safety training and inductions as required; - Attend regular site and office based meetings, toolbox's and workshops; - Support the program Safety Manager as required. Skills and experience required: - Minimum 3+ years in a similar position in the civil construction industry with active site experience in a roadwork environment; - Minimum Certificate IV qualification in OHS and preferably hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; - Current First Aid certificate; - TMR Traffic Management Level 2 qualified (Level 4 qualification preferred); - Strong understanding of industry standards, legislative and other WHS requirements (including the MUTCD) for high risk construction work on or near roads e.g. mobile plant, working at heights, excavation etc; - Ability to negotiate with and influence others to drive and support a Zero Harm work environment in a site or office environment; - Strong communication skills (both written and verbal); - Demonstrated experience in conducting site inspections and audits to assist site contractors identify and address unsafe conditions or non-conformances; - Experience in conducting and arranging WHS training for staff at all business levels; - Experience in conducting and assisting in incident management and investigation; - Advanced computer skills.
