Field Service Engineer, Electrical and Mechanical Job in South East England, Southern Uk

Field Service Engineer, Electrical and Mechanical, South of England, £35,000 to £40,000 Basic Salary plus vehicle plus benefits. As a Field Service Engineer with responsibility for the South of England this is an excellent role for an electronics led service engineer with some mechanical experience together with computer skills. This is an unusual role that requires high levels of autonomy together with terrific interpersonal skills and a minimum qualification to HND or a degree within engineering, electronic engineering or electrical engineering. This is an important career role within a stable organisation that requires a self reliant and professional Field Service Engineer that enjoys customer interaction and possesses the communication skills to help troubleshoot equipment issues with customers via the telephone and email. The role also includes some level of selling to clients - selling maintenance agreements and demonstrating equipment so you will also have the personality, confidence and tenacity to secure sales.

The company were established nearly 70 years ago and provide a wide range of electronic tank gauges and fuelling systems into a variety of industry sectors including transportation, logistics, oil gas, aviation, petrochemical, tank truck builders and tank truck repair companies. With responsibility for troubleshooting and repairing electronic and mechanical systems onsite at customer facilities the role also includes working as a commissioning engineer on new equipment and securing sales from a pre-sales or technical perspective.

To apply you will have an ability to read and work with schematics and experience of PCB Board level electronics troubleshooting will be useful. You will be skilled in evaluating and resolving technical problems and be customer focused and articulate enough to provide technical customer training, make maintenance recommendations and prepare technical reports. You will have working knowledge of PC and Windows based software and some basic experience of Oracle would be a distinct advantage. In addition being qualified to 16th or 17th edition wiring regulations will also be of huge benefit (if not training to 17th edition will be included within the first few months) .

As a person you will be self motivated and self managing and have a solid loyal work history together with a hard working and customer service oriented ethic. The role is covering a large territory and typically you will spend at least one night per week away from home. The role does have health and safety considerations as it requires climbing onto tank trucks storage tanks.

As this is a customer facing role you must be well presented with good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with both customers and engineers. You will be able to follow quality systems and processes and be used to following procedures. You will have an ability to develop technical manuals, written procedures documentation and be committed to continuous business improvement.

In addition you must have a full driving license. As training will take place across Europe and the United States you will also possess a valid passport.

The salary offered is upto £40K for an individual that is highly qualified and experienced. The company will also consider applications at a £25K to £30K level from field engineers who meet some, but not all, of the above with a thirst for training and progression. In this instance a considerable training package will be offered.
