My client are a market leader within the Marine and Instrumentation industry specialising in Navigation Instrumentation.

A talented service professional is required to Service, Maintain and Repair laser and radar based equipment with a significant PC software element. A working knowledge of Microsoft office products would be an advantage. (Word/Power Point/Excel).

The Field Service Engineer will join the Marine Service Department. The successful applicant will have a strong combined electronics and software background and be technically capable in troubleshooting and diagnostics, both on-site and remotely. They should be resourceful and self sufficient with a strong work ethic and 'can-do attitude'. The applicant should be available to travel widely overseas and work offshore when required. Candidates may come from a marine product, transport system or measurement technology background.

The role will be office based in Leicester with frequent (up to 50% of the time) trips of short duration to install, commission and repair the company's worldwide products; often on industrial vessels operating in the offshore oil gas industry. This can be a physically demanding role and will require candidates to work at heights; therefore a reasonable degree of fitness is required. Face to face contact with vessel masters and senior engineers is likely, therefore good communication skills at all levels are essential. Flexibility in working hours will be required as travel may be at short notice and during the evenings or weekends. The role holder will be required to partake in an out of hours telephone support rota.

The company offers a competitive salary, telephone support allowance, 5% non-contributory pension, 35 days annual leave and enhanced company bonus on a direct profit share scheme. A mobile phone and laptop PC will be provided. Candidates will need to hold or be willing to complete the Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) certificate and hold a valid passport.
