The Field Service Representative is a technical professional role and supports Rockwell Automation’s mission, vision, and goals by providing quality service and support to customers. This position affords many opportunities to apply technical knowledge to diverse situations and to work with customers to provide solutions to their needs.
Responsibilities:
The Field Service Representative is responsible for assisting customers in the resolution of problems they may encounter during the application, integration or maintenance of the life cycle of the equipment.
Provide on-site installation of Allen-Bradley and Rockwell product lines.
Identify and correct hardware failures, software discrepancies, and programming problems.
Service and repair of complex equipment and systems.
Manage projects as assigned.
Instruct customers in the proper use, operation and maintenance of the system.
Isolation and identification of failures with associated equipment not supplied by Rockwell Automation.
Conduct product and solutions training sessions and classes for customers and peers as required.
Working conditions are often in remote areas with extended camp stays required.
Relocation assistance may be considered.
These are the minimum qualifications that a candidate must possess in order to be successful:
College Diploma or Technologist Diploma – Engineering, Electrical Technology, Electronics, or related discipline
2 yrs of industry experience consistent with automation product and system support requirements.
Posses a sound knowledge of industrial codes and standards
Highly developed interpersonal skills
Excellent commercial customer relation skills
Strong ability to multi-task and work independently under pressure
Ability to problem solve and respond to standard situations
Demonstrated ability to work together with sales, distributor, and the customer.
Willingness to carry on-call pager according to a rotational schedule
Ability to speak write fluent English
Candidate will be required to submit to regular drug and alcohol testing as per the health and safety standards in the oil and gas industry
Desired Qualifications
These are qualifications that we would ideally like to see a candidate possess:
Undergraduate University Degree – Electrical Engineering, Mechanics, Mechatronics, Electronics or other related discipline
2 years experience with project management
Engineering experience with programmable controls, numeric controls, alternating current and direct current drives (AC DC) and other forms of motor controls.
Safety and medium voltage product knowledge
Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Rockwell products and software
Strong knowledge of industrial networks such as DeviceNet, ControlNet, or Ethernet IP
Ability to manage others to complete assigned projects
Ability to resolve conflict situations in a diplomatic setting
Ability to communicate complex ideas and technical information to customers in a clear and concise manner
