Field Technician – Unified Communications
Our client, a unified communications solutions provider, is seeking a Field Technician who will be a member of a deployment team focused on delivery of products and services at customer environments. Activities will be focused on Linux based system software deployment including related database efforts. Applications will be dependent on and require SIP session setup, management issue resolution. Key expectations will be the ability to work independently following agreed and previously reviewed scripts on customer sites. Efforts will include integration of voice systems, data networks and carrier telephony services.
Non-technical responsibility for written completion of reports for effort tracking, issue resolution, status reporting.
This role will be a junior member of the team as a field technician working under the direction of a field engineer.
Required Skill Set:
· Medium level familiarity with LINUX, ability to function without graphical interface (moderate level Linux systems specialist)
· Familiarity with virtualization solutions (VMware, KVM)
· Network skilled with tcpdump, wireshark etc. for troubleshooting network communications and session verification
· Medium level experience and knowledge of databases: MySQL, Postgres
· Basic SIP knowledge mandatory
· Prior implementation background with Unified communications including Cisco UCM Avaya CM
· Testing – plan / execute / document / resolve
Preferred Skill Set:
· Service Management integration – monitoring and management tools integration and APIs
· Technical writing and QA – Draft documentation from design specification through test plans and as-built, operations and training content
· Session Border Controller: Acme, Sonus, Sipura
· SIP interoperability experience
Nice to Have Skill Set:
· Familiarity with Security technologies and Media Servers
· SIP Servlet 1.1 and JSR289
· SIP App Server
