Field Test Analyst/Engineer Job in York/Lancaster, Pennsylvania US
Job Description
The Field Test Analyst/Engineer will work directly with other members (internal customers ) of the Platform Team including design, marketing and manufacturing, as well as other test organizations within CNH. The ideal candidate will also work with external customers (dealers and farmers) and Company representatives (CBM's, PSM's) to assure adequate test coverage, security/confidentiality and a favorable Company image to contacts. The candidate will plan and organize individual work assignments to execute the Program Design Verification Plan for prototype, product improvement and competitive machines under actual or simulated field conditions to determine adequacy of design against objectives/requirements.
- Evaluate machine performance, diagnose component malfunctions, isolate problems and recommend improvements in the development of Hay Forage products for both Case IH and New Holland brand products.
- Determine the acceptability of prototype Hay Forage product designs and make recommendations to enhance performance and reliability/durability and to reduce product cost. Document issues and work with Design and Manufacturing to resolve them.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair issues related to crop gathering, cutting, feeding, drivetrain, electrical/electronic and fluid power systems on Hay and Forage products.
- Submit timely and concise reports covering machine performance, reliability, durability, serviceability, customer appeal and safety. Maintain accurate and comprehensive test records for reference and analysis.
- Assist with the build/assembly of prototype machinery to develop familiarity with the product. Inspect, repair, rework and update test machines / components as required to maintain operation and keep current with design changes.
- Prepare and transport prototype test and competitive machines to worldwide test locations as required to facilitate testing and benchmarking.
- Travel to worldwide test locations for extended periods (40% to 60% of the time in 4-week intervals) with little or no direct supervision. Maintain the service truck, test equipment and tools, which have been assigned to support the testing.
- Assist with the acquisition and interpretation of field and lab mission data, including measurements of noise, vibration, speed, mechanical torque, hydraulic pressure, hydraulic flow and electrical / electronic sensors.
- Become proficient with downloading of software and uploading of information from the controllers.
- Participate as the Product Evaluation representative in product development activities, such as identifying customer requirements, design reviews, Failure Modes Effects Analyses, Hazard Analyses, etc.
Requirements
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology with additional experience in electrical /electronic, fluid power and mechanical areas. Alternatively, a candidate who does not meet the aforementioned qualifications but has a minimum 5 years of field and lab experience with Hay Forage products would be considered
- Good communication (oral and written) and teamwork skills
- Good computer skills. The candidate should be experienced with personal computers and MS Office products
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or willingness (training provided) to obtain CDL within 90 days
- Ability to travel 40% to 60% of the time mostly domestic with possible International travel involved
Assets:
- Operational experience with Hay and Forage equipment is preferred.
