Finance Admin Apprentice

Looking to start your admin career? You could be a finance admin apprentice within the Finance Department. Based at NHS Derriford Hospital, you will be an admin apprentice providing support to the finance team.

The Finance Department at NHS Derriford Hospital are looking for administration apprentice to join their team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Your role as an finance admin apprentice will be based in the finance department located at NU building NHS Derriford Hospital where you'll be providing support. You'll receive ongoing support and development that will provide you with the skills and knowledge required for a successful career within business administration.
If you're a successful candidate for this vacancy, you'll be expected to provide an efficient administration service.
Your duties could include:
1. Process Payment Requests on a daily basis.
2. Invoicing: Ensure that income is invoiced in a timely and accurate manner and credit notes are correctly raised.
3. Accounts Payable: Ensure all non purchase order invoices are directed to the relevant budget holder for coding and approval.
4. Accounts payable: Enter non purchase order payments on to the Oracle System.
5. Accounts Payable: Answer simple supplier and budget holder queries on invoices.
6. Budget Holder and Trust Fund Manager queries: answer routine queries and provide analysis for more complex queries for line Manager. Ensure all queries are responded to efficiently and effectively.
7. Produce regular financial and management information following policies, desk top procedures and task lists. Comment on improvements and changes that could be made to processes.
8. Input financial data into computerised and paper databases/systems. Creates financial spreadsheets.
9. Take part in any appropriate departmental training and demonstrate own activities to new starters or less experienced staff.
10. Handles cash: may be responsible for handing cash/cheques/vouchers, etc. from many sources.
11. Provide administrative services for the Finance Department as required e.g. photocopying, filing.
12. Assists patients / clients during incidental contacts / provides non-clinical advice, information to patients / clients / relatives. Ensure all departmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
13. To provide administrative and basic financial support to the Financial Services Team, Business Advisors, Financial Accounts and other Finance staff.
14. To assist the Management Accounts function in supporting budget holders on basic aspects of Directorate Finance.
15. To answer routine queries from Trust Fund Managers.
16. To answer routine queries from External organisations e.g. suppliers, and refer more detailed queries to line manager.
17. Handle sensitive information in a tactful and professional manner.
18. To liaise where necessary with members of staff from other Departments within the Trust e.g. Procurement, Payroll, Human Resources, and also with NHS Shared Business Service staff on day to day matters.
Business administration is a really varied area so this is just a sample of some of the things you'll be doing.
