Several specialty medicines that were successfully launched in this region by a distributor has been transferred to this new Shire Nordic operation which will also be planning the introduction of new medicines from Shire's development pipeline. The main purpose of this role is to direct and lead the Finance and Business Service activities in the Nordic area (currently: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark)and ensure that:

* Books and records for the Nordic entities are prepared and maintained in line with global finance requirements and all recognised accounting standards (Shire GAAP, US GAAP, Local GAAP)
* Monthly financial reports and analysis of business trends are developed for the business and produced in a timely and accurate manner
* Budgets and forecasts are produced to a high standard
* Financial input is provided to all business decisions and financial analysis and modeling are completed to a high standard
* All Business services are provided locally at an appropriate service level and appropriate cost and appropriate support is provided into the entity from the global functions as required
* Local compliance in areas such as local taxation, social laws, VAT, SOX, regulatory etc. is achieved
* Local processes, systems and practices are continually managed, developed, improved and in line with Shire guidelines

Essential Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

* Ensuring the preparation of high quality monthly reporting to Group Finance, including additional quarter and year end disclosures

* All aspects of internal and external financial and operational audits, which may include overseeing the preparation and filing of the annual statutory accounts in accordance with local regulations.

* Ensuring that high quality financial support is provided to the General Manager, to the local Sales and Marketing business and the Global Functions with a focus on value enhancement

* Interacting with local senior management in leading the development/process for the commercial budgets and forecasts

* Identifying and quantifying key business risks via upside/downside sensitivity analysis

* Leading a rigorous monthly financial review process across the legal entity to include
* Identifying and explaining material budget vs actual variances
* Assessing the impact of variances on the financial forecast
* Reviewing and drafting a summary financial package that is distributed to senior management
* Ongoing improvement of financial processes

* Organizing monthly Finance meetings with Senior Management and proactively working with the General manager in making strategic and operational decisions on resource allocations, investment mix and key initiatives, through modeling proposals and scenario simulations.

* Developing budgets and forecast for Global functions and reporting results through to global GA analysis team

* Developing the Business services in country

* Developing the role as a single point of contact for all Procurement, HR admin, IS, Facilities and compliance activities in country. Including building strong relationships with heads of the global functions to facilitate improved service delivery

Education Experience Requirements

Required:
Financial degree or equivalent
Professional experience of at least 7 years as finance manager involved in financial reporting, accounting, problem solving and decision support.
Experience of working in a multinational company and a matrix environment.
The candidate must be fluent in English and one of the Scandinavian languages.

Desirable:
Pharmaceutical industry experience.
Experience of US GAAP
Hyperion Experience
Sage Experience
