Finance Change BA – Data Sourcing recruitment
Department Background:
• The bank has launched a major new initiative to address the problem of complexity in systems and data architecture. This initiative will reduce reporting risk, improve transparency, timeliness and capability, and reduce the cost of processing financial data. In an era when infrastructure cost efficiency is a top priority, the programme can make a very important contribution.
• Finance Analytics is one of the key customers of the programme
• The FA CTB team consists of approx 30 business analysts, project managers and subject matter experts located in London, NY, Singapore and Mumbai.
• The Finance Analytics workstream will
- Implement a programme of work in order to support the Finance Analytics agenda, improving the ability of Finance to support the Business across Revenue, FRM, Client and Capital analysis.
- Design and deliver an end state FA architecture and process framework, including standardised and ad-hoc reporting and scenario analysis which fully meets the needs of Finance and the Business.
Role Specifics:
The role is for a business analyst to deliver system and business changes to meet demands around Revenue and Risk reporting within the existing MI systems. This is a very dynamic initiative and will result in significant business benefit.
• The role focus will involve:
- Data sourcing from a number of front office capture and risk management systems
- Linking the various sources of data, and implementing common data structures to allow analysis across various datasets.
- Systems implementation to store and report such data
- Implement business processes for sign-off, monitoring and control
• This will be achieved by:
- Defining the business requirements and functional specification
- Supporting the business on strategic design decisions relating to process and systems
- Partnering effectively with technology in the delivery of the business requirements
- Defining and managing the UAT
- Monitoring business benefit realisation
- Communicating effectively to senior management
Role Requirements:
• Education / Qualifications
- Accountancy, IT or MBA qualifications would be useful but not essential
• Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years BA experience in the financial services industry
- Experience in change management, specifically in the delivery and implementation of projects is required that will allow the candidate to operate autonomously throughout the project lifecycle through to delivery.
- An understanding of the types, nature, attributes, flows of information in investment banking/Finance/other infrastructure functions. Solid understanding of the technical implications of defining, managing, storing, enriching and distributing information.
- The successful candidate will work with IT – so is not expected to be a technology expert but will need to have the communication and coordination skills to be the main point of contact with IT.
- Awareness of equivalent industry players and how they have tackled reporting of different data classes within Finance is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the investment banking, sales trading, asset management and similar industries is a strong advantage. Detailed trading or risk management knowledge is not essential, but any candidate must be familiar enough with the business to be able to understand the business process, information technology issues.
- Previous experience on QlikView is not essential but would provide a significant advantage.
