The Finance Coordinator for Europe will provide financial oversight and support to the Head of Europe and team. This role is responsible for monitoring financial management and performance of countries in the Group, ensuring compliance with global standards, systems and processes, encouraging adoption of best practices, and strengthening the financial capacity, engagement and mutual accountability of Finance teams in the Group.

It will further provide strategic financial support to the Head of Europe and designated Directorate in strategic planning, reporting, analysis and risk management, with a focus on finance implications of fundraising models.  It also ensures the finance management of the International Secretariat (IS) Hub of AAI in Brussels.

Desired Skills Experience

Formally, you should have a Professional Accounting or Financial Management Qualification, coupled with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in position of senior financial management or accounting, preferably in the NGO sector.

The ideal candidate will have very good knowledge of computerised accounting packages and Excel. Knowledge of databases would be useful.  Experience in analysing financial reports and plans, and drawing insight for use by management and different donors will be essential.  Experience in providing support and training, particularly from a distance, will be required in this role.

In this position, the ability to think strategically, to delegate where appropriate, to prioritise competing demands and to influence a peer group will be required together with excellent communication skills (fluent spoken and written English).  The Finance Coordinator must be able to work independently and be self-motivated. Knowledge of other European languages would be a real asset.

At a personal level, you must have a strong commitment to a human rights based approach to development, champion women's rights and value working with diverse cultures and the poor and marginalised groups. Your ability and willingness to travel internationally and work flexibly in virtual settings and distant management would be required.
