About the role

• Business partner to the Pharmaceutical BU (a 1 billion+ USD business which includes multiple business units) 

• Work with the Pharmaceutical BU GM and commercial business units’ GMs as well as other Heads of enabling functions to address the requirements for financial analysis for strategic and business planning, budgeting, reporting, as well as other ad hoc requests

• Enhance the performance by providing expert advice, finance insight and analysis which are essential to ensure a high level of service

Responsibilities

• Being a key business partner, provide expert advice and analytical support to commercial and support functions (customer groups) by proactively identifying opportunities and raising challenges to meet business objectives and mitigate risks and provide expert advice and financial analysis on ad hoc initiatives such as tender and access pricing, new product introduction, new sales channels etc

• As Finance BP and ensure continuous enhancement and transformation of Finance business Partnering to provide best in class, customer focused, cost effective service, deliver insightful information and advice to our business partners

• Communicate with customer groups on financial aspects of business decisions and resource allocations, and be point of contact for business colleagues for financial issues by representing Finance and being an ambassador for the Finance function

• Improve the awareness of controls and compliance initiatives in China to ensure alignment and delivery of expectations

• Actively contribute to delivery of overall financial and business performance through effective reporting and analysis (e.g., sales/cost savings/financial target achievement and working capital management)

• Co-ordinate with sales and marketing and supply chain for consensus forecasting review and approval

• Manage financial management activities for the operating unit in support of delivering financial targets, business strategies and maintaining strong financial governance

• Manage the promotional resource planning, and project resource allocation to ensure the maximum ROI in consultation with customer groups and GM

• Provide timely valuable business insight information by utilizing commercial analytics and financial analysis to support business decision and business growth, and co-ordinate with the customer groups for achievement of organisational objectives

• Review monthly reports, actuals, budgets, plans and forecasts and provide commentary on key variances/business drivers and review management accounts (actual, forecasts, budgets) and signing off the financial statements

• Manage a team of 20 employees, ensure sufficient resources are allocated to Finance BP to support business growth

• Identify key talent and set development plans with focus on individuals with capabilities and leadership behaviours internally. Establish challenging developmental assignments for key talents and identify opportunities to increase the “bench strength”.

• Develop Finance staff through training, coaching, interactions w/other business functions to enhance their business partnering skills capabilities

Complexity

• Partnering with the business units to enhance the performance of China/HK Pharmaceuticals by providing expert advice, finance insight and analysis 

• Effectively influence customer groups and ensure financial issues readily resolved, manage and influence a matrix organisation 

• Accountable for the quality of deliverables and for ensuring that excellence in service delivery is maintained as the business environment changes 

• Supporting the operating unit in assessment of opportunities in complicated situations with a high degree of uncertainty such as tender and access pricing, new product introduction etc. 

• Be involved in contributing to discussions on appropriate business solutions and improvement opportunities

• Communicate with Commercial organisations, Shared Services and other internal customers e.g. the business teams, Corporate Finance, Global Tax, Compliance and external customers such as External Auditors, Tax Service Providers, Tax Bureau Officials and influence them effectively

Requirements 

• Degree in Accounting/Finance or related majors

• Qualified CPA/ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent with at least 15 years PQE with at least 5 years experience in China

• Proven experience in FPA

• Good management skills and proven experience in team management

• Negotiation and conflict resolution skills

• Excellent presentation skills, not only MS PP, but also in communication scenarios 

• Advanced numeracy, accuracy excellent attention to detail

• Fluent in English
