Role Description
Job Role Overview:
Within CIB Finance, the Equities Business Aligned Analytics team is focused on developing and delivering key pieces of research and analysis to help drive actions that positively impact total shareholder return.
Analytics is primarily project based, and addresses both tactical and strategic decision support including business and client profitability, new products and business initiatives, evaluation of future events impact (e.g. regulatory reform, changes in accounting rules), forecasting / planning, as well as competitor analysis and external benchmarking. The Group applies quantitative methods, including trend, variance, statistical, and scenario analyses to assess the main areas of performance (e.g. revenues, costs, balance sheet and capital/risk weighted asset utilization, volumes and inventories).
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver on Book of Work (BoW) initiatives in a timely, complete, and accurate manner. Ad-hoc delivery as well as recurring production and analysis specifically around Equity Derivatives, Equity Trading and Cross GME. Manage workflow, time-lines, deliverables and team coordination including both on-shore and off-shore support. Communicate and escalate issues proactively.
- Generate original ideas for future progress and develop creative analyses to help realize measureable financial impacts around strategic initiatives and business decisions. Provide guidance on financial impacts while providing an independent view on business performance and final conclusions.
- Compile disparate sources of information and data into meaningful conclusions. Create efficient data gathering and analytical tools and approaches, translatable to multiple products, resources.
- Provide transparency to monthly PL and balance sheet movements and to transaction activity through the analysis of revenue attribution, changes in market and credit risk profiles, deal structuring, value based management performance metrics, key business drivers, and macro/micro-economic developments. Deliver insightful management information and perceptive commentary.
- Develop a deep understanding of the business and drivers.
- Deliver on ad hoc inquiries that require adaptability and reprioritization.
- Support the integration of Qlikview into the team’s knowledgebase. Contribute to the migration of existing reports to Qlikview and support the use of the technology for new ad-hoc and recurring requests.
- Track and assess regulatory, accounting, market, and competitor developments. Support group wide efforts regarding Volcker and Basel 3.
- Contribute to Finance wide CTB initiatives focusing on items such process re-engineering initiative around recurring BOW efficiencies. Support the compilation of data required for such project analysis.
- Participate in group planning and development. Own and deliver on organizational objectives. Propose and lead change/improvement initiatives.
Pre-Requisites
• 6+ years Strategic Planning Analysis, Consulting or Analytics-related experience, preferably in Financial Services Industry
• Knowledge / expertise in the Global Equities business sectors highly desirable (in order of priority: Equity Derivatives, Equity Trading, Prime Finance, Markets Clearing)
• Bachelors degree; MBA or other advanced degree preferable
• Strong analytical skills, including statistical analysis and spreadsheet modeling
• Good understanding of accounting and regulatory capital rules (IFRS/US GAAP, Basel II) would be an advantage
• Excellent business acumen with strong business advisory and partnership skills
• Good relationship building and stakeholder management capabilities
• Proven track record of leadership, ownership, creativity, innovation, and initiative
• Skilled at integrating internal and external information and turning findings or raw data into meaningful conclusions
• Strong information management technical competence. Advanced Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills
• Qlikview / Essbase / SAP knowledge a plus
• Robust project management and consulting skill set (problem structuring, scoping, planning, management)
• Able to operate effectively in a matrix structure; adaptable to fast-paced and unexpected change
• Strong oral and written presentation skills, including ability to effectively deliver presentations to senior leaders and document procedures
