Finance Manager for International Law Firm

My client is an international law firm based in the city of London. They are a market leading business and provide advice across all types of commercial law such as corporate and MA, intellectual property and private equity. They are part of a group of European law firms, which has extensive reach and coverage across 29 countries within Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America. Currently they are preparing for a period of high activity and are looking to integrate another business into the partnership which will create a combined firm with turnover of around £300m.

They are in need of a Finance Accounting Manager to initially join the firm to cover an interim period of 6 months, but will potentially be a longer contract or permanent position for the right candidate. Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, this role will be responsible for working with an outsourced team to co-coordinate the external audit and year-end audit processes, for producing statutory accounts and providing cashflow and treasury management to the firm. You will be accountable for the management of external banking requirements, to assess, improve and reinforce financial controls as a result of the merger and in areas such as client monies, expense management, and will work on various projects as required.

The successful candidate will get a great deal of exposure to different stakeholders within the business including bankers, the outsourced team and the as well as working closely with the Head of Financial Control in order to support and deputise when necessary.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a fully qualified, technically focused ACA / ACCA / CIMA candidate who has recent experience in a similar role working in either a Professional Services Firm or an LLP environment. You will need to have had experience around client money handling and an understanding of SRA requirements would be advantageous. Good working knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP and an excellent level of Excel are imperative and must be a very polished and effective communicator in both written and verbal communication.
