Ascham Homes is an 'Arms Length Management Organisation' (ALMO). This is a not-for-profit company set up by the London Borough of Waltham Forest Council to manage and improve the housing that it owns. Ascham Homes manages around 12,000 homes (including 1,800 leasehold properties) on behalf of the Council.
In April 2012 Ascham Homes signed a new ten-year management agreement with Waltham Forest Council. The new management agreement gives us the opportunity to deliver more seamless housing services through closer working between the Council and the ALMO.

Ascham Homes’ Finance Team has recently undergone a restructure as part of the second year of the New Modern ALMO. We are now looking to build a dynamic accounting team to provide real value-adding support to the business. As part of this new team we are looking to recruit two new and distinct Finance Manager posts, these are pivotal posts within our organisation.

Finance Manager - Accountancy Services

· To be responsible for the year-end closure process and the production and submission of the statutory accounts in line with relevant accounting standards and appropriate practices.
· To be responsible for the Company’s financial policies, procedures and regulations ensuring that a robust system of financial controls is in place in line with regulatory and audit requirements.
· To manage the financial accounting function and all transactional operations ensuring compliance with all statutory and business obligations.
· To lead on all financial and other information systems matters and contribute to the internal audit and risk management process
A qualified finance professional, (ACA, ACCA or CIPFA), you should have a proven track record of successfully delivering all elements of the financial accounting function. You will be technically minded with a strong attention to detail and meticulous in your approach to regulatory and compliance matters. Your skills will include the ability to work autonomously and to drive through change and continuous improvement to ensure a robust system of internal control. The organisation has a hands-on, problem solving team culture so it is essential that you have the ability to get to the root of problems and influence others to step up and continue the improvement process.

Finance Manager - Planning and Business Support

· To manage and lead the Financial Planning and Business support team ensuring that a high quality customer focus is established.
· To manage the financial and business planning processes for the Company, including the budget and business plan, in line with corporate and statutory procedures and timescales.
· To provide project appraisal, costing and modeling activity ensuring that financial management and business information provided is intelligent, accurate, timely and produced in accordance with the Company’s procedures and timetables.
· Develop positive and pro-active relationships with the company’s directors and budget holders in order to provide a comprehensive and reliable business support service.
A qualified finance professional, (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA), you will have proven experience of all aspects of the management accounting function, including budgeting, forecasting and analysis. You will possess the communication and inter-personal skills to develop working relationships with all budget holders up to, and including, Director level and will ensure that the business has a sound system of financial management. Working proactively, you will have outstanding analytical skills and have an innovative approach to your work.
