Financial Accountant (Compensation & Benefits) – 6 Month Contract recruitment
People related expenses account for a substantial portion of the PL for firms in the investment banking industry. The team in Singapore has developed as a CoE, managing people related expenses for all CS entities in three regions across the globe viz. Americas, EMEA and APAC. Under the CoE model, all operational aspects of compensation accounting are centralized in Singapore.
Working closely with the Divisional Management teams, LE Controllers, HR, Treasury and Tax - its primary focus is to develop, implement and operate robust and efficient controls and procedures to ensure accurate and timely recording of people related expenses under various GAAPs and facilitate the increasing demand for expense management information and analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
• All operational aspects around accounting, control and reporting of people related expenses under various deferred compensation plans.
• This covers
• Various stock and cash deferral plans awarded over a number of years
• Booked in various legal entities and currencies
• Under US GAAP, IFRS, CH GAAP and local GAAP
• With substantial impact on the firm’s PL and Balance Sheet
• Month end / Quarter end reporting
• Monthly analysis of PL variances
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Year end statutory disclosures and audit
• Responsibility for deliverables to LEC, Treasury, Tax, Divisional Finance and Consolidation teams
Key skills / quals required:
• Graduate in accounts / finance
• Professional accounting degree is desirable
• Minimum 2 years post qualification experience in a high pressure, deadline focussed commercial environment, preferably in payroll / compensation accounting.
• Previous experience of work at an investment bank preferably with exposure to payroll / compensation accounting is desirable.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Windows.
• Strong technical background in accounting and management reporting
• A flexible approach to work combined with a “can do” attitude that is task orientated.
• A logical mind set with a high level of attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the presence and ability to influence peers and seniors.
