Financial Accountant for Leading Asset Manager, Ashmore – Group Reporting recruitment
Assets under management as at 31-03-12 stand at $65.9bn and we have offices and activity in eleven countries across both developed and emerging markets. As a listed business operating in a highly regulated sector across multiple geographies production of the Group’s annual reporting is crucial, therefore we seek an additional hire into our finance team to act as a Reporting Accountant to assist with this.
The role will involve working closely with the Group Finance Director, Group Head of Finance and Head of Reporting, to whom the role reports, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Initial design and implementation of rolling statutory notes calculations for current disclosures for Group and primary UK GAAP subsidiaries
- Maintenance of disclosure templates to include new or remove old disclosures for Group and primary UK GAAP subsidiaries
- Update disclosure note calculations on a monthly basis, including statutory reserve reconciliations for Group and primary UK GAAP subsidiaries
- Research and summarise upcoming standards to assess the impact on the Group reporting, alongside KPMG, including the convergence of UK GAAP and IFRS
- Statutory accounts peer review for content/methodology compared to Ashmore
- Calculate and reconcile the Group’s IFRS 2 charges and outstanding SBP obligations on a monthly basis
- Calculate and reconcile the Group’s EPS on a monthly basis
- Preparation of annual, interim and subsidiary statutory accounts
- Perform group consolidation on a monthly basis, including intercompany reconciliations and seed capital consolidation
- Maintenance of the Group’s existing technical accounting papers
We are keen to see applications from qualified accountants (ACA or equivalent), and 2+ years PQE.
You are likely to have had experience in accounting for a large FTSE listed company (100/250), preparing group consolidations and statutory accounts. Additionally you should have:
- Excellent technical understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting standards and principles
- Experience with IFRS 2 and seed capital accounting in particular are an advantage
- An ability to pick up tasks and packages quickly (Excel and CODA in particular)
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks
- Self motivated and able to work independently
- Attention to detail and very diligent, to ensure integrity of the firm’s financial statements
