Financial Accountant Job in Peterborough, Anglia UK

Our client is looking for a financial accountant to join their busy office to work on a 6 month to 12 month contract to cover maternity leave

Responsibilities for the Financial Accountant role include:

The production of monthly management accounts, the annual budget and interim forecasts

To ensure that financial controls and procedures are robust

The delivery of key information and returns to meet legal and group requirements (including PSA returns, VAT returns, IXBRL filing, statutory accounts)

To ensure that finance systems and processes are fit for purpose

Line management of the assistant accountant and purchase ledger team

Preparation of the audit file for the annual audit and liaising with the audit team

Candidate applying for the Financial Accountant role will need:

ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified or QBE (applicants who are qualified by experience will also be considered)

A proven track record of systems and process implementation or re-engineering

A background in both management accounts and financial accounts

Experience in the production of statutory accounts under UK GAAP

Experience in leading and developing a small team

The ability to be decisive and make sensible choices based on the information available

The ability to engage and communicate with people at all levels in the organisation

The aptitude to get to grips with new systems and processes quickly and in depth

An enquiring mind with a logical and open approach to problem solving

A strong team player with a can-do attitude and flexible approach
