Financial Accountant, non USD Investment Portfolio

ROLE
This is a new role within the Cash Analysis team that has arisen to support increased growth and complexity within Northern Trust’s Treasury function. The Senior Consultant will be a key member of the UK based Cash Analysis team. The individual’s primary responsibility will be the accounting oversight of the non-USD investment portfolio from a US GAAP and IFRS perspective. The position will also be responsible for typical investment middle office activities.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reconciliation of account balances to Northern Trust’s general ledger
- Reconciliation of account balances to custodian statements
- Identification and resolution of exceptions
- Account balance trend analyses
- Maintenance of sub-system accounting schemas
- SEC and Regulatory financial statement presentation matters
- Responsibility for certain SOX process and control documentation
- Monitoring of key accounting metrics and analytics (e.g., manual JE’s, exception levels, etc.)
- Verification and oversight of PSGL account dimensions and related statistical accounts
- Execution of PL analysis
- Review of daily trade blotter
- Monitoring of key sub-ledger data and interaction with downstream systems
- Liaise with IT partners to implement docket items and resolve accounting-related inquiries
- Work directly with partners in Financial Management, Treasury Front Office and Operations
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Must be a qualified accountant, (preferable ACA / CIMA) with related work experience in a financial services environment
- Strong organisational and excellent communication skills with the ability to present to senior management
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required to evaluate financial results and projections
- Knowledge of accounting, reporting and financial control is essential
- Must be able to demonstrate proven initiative and the ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Experience with US GAAP and IFRS is essential
