The role
Working within the UK finance function, you will report to the European FD and take responsibility for the financial record keeping and reporting. The role is wide ranging and includes 'hands on' work such as inputting, monthly accounts preparation to strict deadlines to detailed analysis work. The role includes:
- Entering Accounts Payable invoices and payments into the General Ledger (GL)
- Dealing with queries from management and vendors
- Preparing Entry of Journals into the GL and GL Control Account Reconciliations
- Responsible for booking monthly payroll journals, preparing payments to HMRC and monthly reconciliations
- Preparing and entering Accounts Receivable Invoice preparation (fees and 'out-of-pocket')and entry into the GL; Booking of receipts; Queries; Reconciliations
- Preparing monthly Work papers file, including Cash Burn
- Preparing monthly WIP schedules and ensuring TE expenses are properly monitored
- Preparing monthly accruals and prepayments schedules for month-end
- Prepare weekly management reports e.g. Dashboard/ Invoice/debtors report
- Preparing monthly expense reports for UK management
- Preparing ad hoc financial analyses
- Supporting the Financial Director, UK Financial Controller and the executive team in the financial management of the business
There are lots of challenges in the role in terms of ad hoc work and management information requests from both local and US based management. The company is rapidly expanding and you will be involved in maintaining financial control in a rapidly changing business environment. The role also has a fair amount of commercial content. Part of this role will also be involved in taking responsibility for the growing Middle Eastern office and the European office. Career progression could be to European Financial Controller level.
The Candidate
You must:
- Be a graduate, qualified or near qualified accountant, and,
- Have 3 - 4 years accountancy experience gained within the financial services industry or within mid to small size firm of accountants, and,
- Have strong Excell skills (Pivot tables and Vlookups minimum)
- Have some experience in assisting with the development of robust financial controls and improvements of reports. You should not be a person who just accepts the status quo.
- Be deadline orientated and used to meeting them as well as dealing with changing priorities.
- Have a flexible attitude and comfortable working in a changing, dynamic, demanding and international environment.
- Be a team player and be able to maintain constructive relationships with colleagues in the business.
